Description

Title: “Fragments of Light”
The painting depicts a female figure in blue with her face turned upwards, almost in an act of liberation or acceptance. The body appears to be crossed by golden cracks that recall the technique of kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing fractures with gold, symbolizing beauty in vulnerability.

The contrast between deep blue and gold creates a powerful visual effect, suggesting an inner journey between wounds and rebirth. Gold, a symbol of transformation and resilience, indicates that every crack becomes part of the soul’s story, making it even more precious. The face turned upward expresses hope, strength, and acceptance of one’s essence, transforming pain into beauty.
Biography:
Lino Scerbo is an artist who has developed his passion for painting since adolescence. At just 16 years old he had the opportunity to train at Lino Tardia’s studio in Rome, where for two years he experimented with different artistic techniques under the guidance of the master. However, his artistic career took a break to devote himself to studies on communication, until, in 1989, with the birth of his daughter Sara, he rediscovered art as an essential expressive necessity.

In the early 90s he created works with a strong figurative and impressionist impact, including La Paternità and La Donna in Rosso (1991), oil paintings on wood measuring 100×100 cm, now part of a private collection. During this period he participated in numerous exhibitions and competitions throughout Italy, focusing above all on a series of paintings dedicated to the female figure, the central theme of his production.

Since 2011 he has undertaken a new phase of artistic experimentation, introducing the material technique with a series of works depicting Trees in the Snow. These paintings, often monochromatic or bichromatic, are distinguished by the use of touches of gold, which give brightness and depth to the composition.

2021 marks a significant turning point in his career: the encounter with Mery Grey’s offers him renewed inspiration, leading him to approach Pop Art. Fascinated by Mery’s charisma and smiles, Scerbo begins to portray her in a series of works with a strong visual impact, electing her as his Inspirational Muse. This encounter pushes him to experiment with new techniques, adopting acrylic on canvas and intensifying his artistic production.

In recent years, in addition to portraits and commissioned paintings, she has dedicated her artistic sensibility to highly relevant social issues, such as the struggle for freedom of Iranian women and the suffering of Ukrainian women during the war. Her research in Pop Art continues to evolve, with constant attention to technical and stylistic innovation, consolidating her artistic commitment as an authentic and constantly evolving form of expression.
